Thanksgiving is almost upon us...

 Thanksgiving Tidings

It's been a fair while since I tried to pick up the pen, or more accurately the keyboard. As some of my readers will know, I used to have a blog of sorts back in the day. It flourished for a few years, but eventually me and my co-author drifted apart. However, recently I've been motivated to pick back up the keyboard and begin transcribing my thoughts. This won't be coherent, there will be egregious spelling and grammar mistakes. However I do own the domain calvinforsberg.com, so there is no time like the present to use it.

"I am a Pitbull on the pantleg of opportunity" - George W. Bush

Thanksgiving is Fall's last stand against the approaching juggernaut of Christmas. Don't get me wrong, I love Christmas, but sometimes I feel that all of Fall is turning into Christmas. In my opinion, the thing that makes Christmas special is the fact that it is around for just a small part of the year. When I finally get to pop my A Kenny G Christmas into my car's CD player, I'll know that Christmas is finally here. Thanksgiving I fear is loosing. I'm guilty of this as much as everyone else. I gave in and decorated Ms. Cotton's room. (The beautiful and COMPLETELY LEVEL tree on her whiteboard is mine.) With the advent of winter however comes Nordic Skiing, which will be a welcome change from the carnage of Cross-Country.

Recently, I ran in the State Cross-Country meet. I wish I could tell you that it was a glamorous, pain-free, and fast, but to quote Coach Jared, "At mile two it looked like you hit a wall." A wall I sure did hit. Someone out there on the internet is a livestream of the entire race. If you have the patience to find all the occasions of which I run past the camera, you'll notice that each time, I get a little less graceful and a little more dilapidated. But hey, it was pretty hilly.

Speaking of recent events, I recently discovered the meme potential of former President George W. Bush. Some of you will roll your eyes at reading this, but I recently discovered Bushisms. What are Bushisms you might ask? Well, according to one paper I read, English isn't George Bush's first language. It's Texan. This makes for some pretty fire quotes. Here are some of my favorites.

"Put food on your family" - George W. Bush

"Rarely the question is asked, is our children learning?" - George W. Bush

Yesterday, you made note of my—the lack of my talent when it came to dancing. But nevertheless, I want you to know I danced with joy. And no question Liberia has gone through very difficult times." - George W. Bush

and last, but not least

"Raise the pie higher" - George W. Bush

I mean there are just so many things to break down there. Dancing to Liberia? Not even a toddler hooked on Cocomelon could change subjects so quickly. However, now as I'm reading this draft back to myself, it seems I might have accomplished just that. So this Thanksgiving, put food on your family. Remember, "This is still a dangerous world. It's a world of madmen and uncertainty and potential mental losses." - George W. Bush. Stay safe out there, eat some good food, and by God, raise the pie higher.

A Brief Story

Here is a photo from the state of the state race. While I fell off at mile two, I had an epic first 200m. Here is a photo from the livestream. I am in 2nd in my alley. It is the slower alley, but still pretty epic.
